Welcome!

This student loan comparison tool includes Stafford and PLUS loans. The tool allows you, the borrower, to compare lenders based on the benefits that are important to you.

Reasons for selecting a lender vary from person to person. Some base their choice on name recognition or a previous relationship. Others consider long term benefits like interest reduction for making payments on time or total cost of loan.

Please note that you are not required to use one of these lenders. The Financial Aid Office will process your loan with any lender you choose. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you would like to do so and we will provide instructions on how to apply for a loan with that lender.

Lender List Rationale

The Financial Aid Office at City College strives to offer excellent customer service. Part of the way we do this is through electronic processing; therefore, the College chooses lenders who work within our loan processing system. Electronic processing allows the borrower to apply online, allows the Financial Aid Office to certify loans online, and allows fast electronic payment of loan funds directly to your City College student billing account.

To assist families in the decision of which lender to choose, the Financial Aid Office has compiled a list of lenders for your consideration. Based on our past experience with these lenders, City College feels confident in the customer service provided to borrowers and the Financial Aid Office as loans are processed and prepared for disbursement as well as the level of benefits they offer to the borrower in the current market conditions. In the current environment, some lenders are no longer participating in the Federal Family Education Loan Program and the Financial Aid Office attempts to suggest lenders who we feel will remain in this program long term. As a borrower, you may change your lender at any time; however, we highly recommend that once you have chosen a lender you stay with that lender throughout your education to ensure a smooth transition into repayment.
