Welcome

This comparison tool will help you to determine a lender who will best suit your needs as a student loan borrower. You will find comparisons for the following student loan programs:

  • Private Alternative Loans

Be sure to apply for Stafford loans first before considering alternative loans. Most often Stafford loans have a lower interest rate and more repayment options.

You can apply for a Stafford loan directly with the Department of Education at https://dlenote.ed.gov/empn/index.jsp.

All new students who haven't already completed a loan entrance interview online should do so before continuing. You can do this online at: Entrance Interview Online

You will have the opportunity to select a lender from the comparison list that will be provided or you may choose to research other lenders.

Lender List Rationale

Cleary University reviews lenders on an annual basis.

Other things considered:

  • Automation capability - Lenders who are automated in their processes by using electronic signatures and internet certifications are more likely to process loan disbursements in a timely manner, enabling student to get their loan funds when needed without unnecessary paper delays.

A wide variety of information is available online to assist you in educating yourself regarding loans and lenders. We urge you to consider the following when making your lender of choice:

  • Do they provide good customer service?
  • Do they participate in electronic transfer of funds?
  • Are there benefits offered for on-time payments?
  • How long has the lender been in business? Do they have a proven track record?
