Lender List Rationale
Having trouble deciding which lender to choose? To help guide you through the process of selecting a lender, the Gallaudet Office of Financial Aid has put together a list of preferred lenders. We encourage you to click on the lender’s logo to research the funding opportunities that each institution offers. While you may choose any lender, our goal is to provide a comparative study that simplifies the process and includes lenders with the best products, technology, pricing, and customer services available. The lender you choose will be your lender for the life of the loan, and will be assigned to you in subsequent years for any additional loans you may request, unless you indicate otherwise, or unless the lender no longer offers student loans.
How did we develop the preferred lender list? Gallaudet University used a comprehensive process for developing its lender list. A number of lender representatives either contacted Gallaudet or were invited to attend personal interviews to discuss loans and product services. The selection criteria included customer service, ease of communication, and/or past experiences from both staff and students. These lenders are updated periodically. Only those lenders currently participating in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) were included in the preferred lender list.
Students have the freedom to choose any FFELP participating lender NOT on the preferred lender list. You may choose any other FFELP participating lender by providing the the name and lender code on the Gallaudet Student Loan Request Form. Students are not penalized for selecting a lender not on the preferred lender list.
