Lender List Rationale
Great Basin College carefully reviews participating lenders’ policies and products on an annual basis to find the best rates and service among student loan lenders for our students and their parents.
To assist students and parents, the Student Financial Services Office compiled a list of lenders providing the best combination of services and benefits. These lenders have provided high-quality customer service, prompt resolutions for loans issues such as counseling and debt management, and prevention of delinquency and default prevention. They also provide fast electronic payment of loan funds directly to Great Basin College.
Please note that you are not required to use one of these lenders. The GBC Student Financial Services Office will process your loan with any lender you choose.
How was this developed?
Recently, there has been a great deal of discussion regarding how lenders are chosen by financial aid offices. The GBC Student Financial Services Office is committed to choosing lenders who provide good customer service and benefits for our students. Every year, we properly research and send a Request for Information (RFI) letter to lenders asking them to provide information regarding their services.
Great Basin College will continue to provide student and parents with a Lender List despite current concerns regarding such lists because we believe that it is helpful to our students, who often request guidance in the selection of a lender. The Lender List is intended as a guide only. The GBC Student Financial Services will process a loan from any lender selected by a student.
