Lender List Rationale

The Office of Financial Aid at Ohio Christian University has adopted a policy regarding the student's choice of lender, which complies with federal guidelines. While it is legally the individual student's right to choose the lender that he or she deems best for his or her educational situation, it is the opinion of the Ohio Christian University Financial Aid Office that the preferred student lenders who will provide the most comprehensive student support and loan options are serviced by SallieMae.

The products, support and cooperation from the SallieMae company are efficient and comprehensive, and it is the strong recommendation of the Financial Aid Department that each student chooses a loan serviced by Sallie Mae. By doing this, students are engaging in a relationship that is completely open between the University and his or her lender, thereby making the financial aid process much less stressful and complicated.

If a student should choose, as is his or her right, to take out a loan with a lender not serviced by Sallie Mae, the Ohio Christian University Financial Aid Office will certify the loan. The University does reserve the right however, to make the student aware of the increased benefits as stated above, of taking out a loan serviced by SallieMae before certification takes place.
