African American Scholarships
There are a number of educational trusts, scholarships and other forms of financial aid to encourage a college education and to assist those from minority communities and there are also a number of scholarships available for those who identify as African-Americans. While the number of African-Americans going to college has been steadily increasing, the numbers remain low mainly because of various socioeconomic factors. Therefore, a number of scholarships have been set up to encourage higher college attendance.

- George A. Strait Minority Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded annually by the American Association of Law Libraries. Applicants must be graduates who wish to work as librarians. Applicants must also have meaningful law library experience and must be members of a minority group as defined by current U.S. government guidelines.
- RTNDA George Foreman Scholarships
This scholarship is only awarded to colored students at University of Texas at Austin and who want to work in electronic journalism.
- Ronald McDonald House Charities African American Future Achievers
This offers scholarships to those students from the African-American community who have limited access of employment and education. To apply, the student must be a high-school senior and must wish to undertake a 2 or 4 year program and be under 21 years old.
