Scholarships for Women
About College Scholarships
In recent years, the cost of college tuition has gone up quite a bit, making it hard for many students to afford a quality higher education. Add to that today’s turbulent economy and the increased cost of living and it becomes even harder for average Americans to turn their dreams of a college education to reality. In order to make college education more accessible to women, a number of scholarships for women have been made available. These scholarships are funded by federal and state governments, educational institutions, private businesses and a number of other organizations. Scholarships are generally preferable over other types of aid as they do not have to be paid back to anyone. In other words, a scholarship award is “free money” that can be used to cover the cost of tuition, books and other expenses. The biggest advantage of scholarships over other types of financial aid is that students are able to graduate debt-free.
Scholarships for Women
Scholarships are awarded to candidates who meet certain conditions and display special talents, such as exceptional academic performance, participation in community activities, or other skills. Scholarships for women who have dropped out of college programs due to unavoidable circumstances include the Nancy Talbot scholarship award, which is available to those pursuing undergraduate degrees. Women who are interested in obtaining engineering degrees can apply for the Society of Women Engineers Scholarship Program that includes awards for both graduate and undergraduate engineering programs. The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship Program, as its name indicates, aims to facilitate women looking to earn a degree in business and management. This program also includes awards for bachelors and masters degrees.
