Lender List Rationale
St. Thomas University Office of Financial Aid can process a loan with any lender which participates in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and/or private loan program. To assist students and parents in selecting a lender, the Office of Financial Aid compiled this list based on lending institutions whom we consider excellent in the educational lending fields including competitive incentives for on-time repayment, an established track record of efficient loan processing and timely delivery of funds, excellent customer service and who will remain in this program long term. STU advises students to compare lenders based on the total cost of the loan, incentives for on-time repayment, and efficiency/quality of service. Before selecting a lender, please be sure to read the fine print on incentive offers by your lender of choice. You may use the sample loan comparison provided to compare the cost of the loan and the effect of repayment incentives. This interactive lender list is intended as a guide only.
Please note that you are not required to use one of these lenders. If you wish to use a lender not on our list, please complete the Stafford and/or PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at https://opennet.salliemae.com/apploansummary/?school_id=00146800 and indicate your lender of choice. You can submit your completed paper MPN to our B.A.S.I.C. Office.
If you wish to use a private loan lender not on our recommended list, please complete the private loan application online with your lender of choice and inform St. Thomas University's B.A.S.I.C. Office.
