Dominican University is a Catholic university located in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. Founded in 1901, the university is sponsored by the Sinsinawa Dominican sisters and is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious centers for higher learning in the state. Originally formed as a university for women, Dominican University has grown to become a coeducational institute, offering more than 50 undergraduate majors. The university also offers 15 graduate level programs in areas such as business, education, library science and social work. Nearly 4000 students are enrolled in at Dominican University today. Dominican University recognizes the importance of investing in a higher education and the Dominican University Financial Aid office offers a number of aid packages to students. More than 90 percent of freshmen at the university receive some sort of financial aid, of which 75 percent is need-based. In addition to offering a substantial amount of aid through institutional awards, Dominican University also participates in federal and state student aid and employment programs.
