About Gannon University Financial Aid
The university recognizes its responsibility to help students finance their educational expenses, which is why more than 90% of students receive assistance from Gannon Financial Aid. Students can calculate their financial need by subtracting the cost of attendance from expected family contribution, which includes factors such as family assets and income, while cost of attendance is the sum of tuition and other education costs. If you plan to apply for financial aid, you must first fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it along with other relevant paper work. The FAFSA also is available online at fafsa.ed.gov.
The university offers scholarships and grants based on various criteria such as academic performance, athletic accomplishments, exceptional talent and demonstrated financial need. These awards are renewable for subsequent academic years provided the student continues to meet the requirements. Notably, some of the available include the Presidential Scholarship, the Founders Scholarship, the Academic Excellence Award, the Diocesan Parish Grant and the Athletic Scholarship. Furthermore, awards such as the Pennsylvania State Grant, the Federal Pell Grant, the University Grant and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant help students in need. Apart from gift aid, students may also apply for federal student loans, which provide funds with lower interest rates. Some of these loans include the federal Direct Student loan (Subsidized and unsubsidized), the federal Perkins loan, the federal Direct Parent PLUS loan and the federal Direct GradPLUS loan. Students can also finance their education via federal work-study.
