Tufts StudentsTufts University is located in Medford/Somerville on the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. This private research university was founded in 1852 by the Christian Universalists after years of struggle to open a non sectarian institute for higher learning. The name of this university comes from its major donor, Charles Tufts. In 1954 this institute got the university status. Today, there are ten schools at Tufts which include two for the undergraduate programs and eight undergraduate divisions. These schools are spread over four purpose built campuses all across Massachusetts. The university has always been recognized for its active contributions to internationalism and the programs of studying abroad. The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy is one of the oldest graduate schools in the discipline of international relations in the United States.
