Student Loans for University of Alabama

About University of Alabama

University of Alabama StudentsThe University of Alabama, located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is the flagship school of the University of Alabama system, and is home to about 25,000 college-age southern belles, southern gentlemen, football fanatics, and just about any other sort of student you could imagine. Founded in 1831, Bama is one of the older schools in the country, and over its years it has seen the city of Tuscaloosa grow around its 1,000-acre campus. Tuscaloosa is, by all accounts, a pretty awesome college town: it was voted the Most Livable City in America in 2011 by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and also one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People in America, which certainly includes the college. If we were only going to mention one thing about Bama, though, it’d be football: the Crimson Tide has 22 SEC championships under their belt, as well as 33 bowl wins (that’s an NCAA record, by the way).

If you’re receiving University of Alabama financial aid, first of all, be thankful you are, as the program isn’t so strong, and second of all, be incredibly cautious with your money. It’s easy to spend money around campus or at a variety of places in Tuscaloosa, but you should really try to keep that in check. Buying student tickets for football games is totally worth it, though they’re pretty expensive. The bottom line of what we’re saying, though, is just be smart with the money you have, as it isn’t bottomless.

University of Alabama Student Loan Options

loan optionsAs with any financial aid package, the packages Bama students receive will be based around grants, work-study programs, scholarships, and student loans. For many students, all that is plenty, and the package makes aid affordable. For some, federal student loans are a necessity, and for still more, private student loans are needed to cover the cost of attending the University of Alabama. If you are one of these students, be sure that you exhaust each and every form of aid available to you before turning to private student loans.
