About Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt StudentsLocated in the heart of Nashville and named for one of the wealthiest individuals of the Gilded Age, Vanderbilt University is a top-tier research institution home to about 12,000 students. Among Vanderbilt’s alumni are two US Vice Presidents, 25 Rhodes Scholars, 7 Nobel laureates and dozens of Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winners. According to the US News & World Report, Vanderbilt takes the 17th spot among national universities. While this is all awesome, it’s also just over a mile away from downtown Nashville, which is a very cool place it’s hard to find such a blend of academic excellence and perfect location, but it exists in Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt is an expensive place (though its aid programs are great), and Nashville is a really, really cool city. Your challenge is to make the most you can of both while spending as little as possible. This is really doable; you just have to remember to keep your spending to those things that are essential to your day-to-day life and your education. It doesn’t make much sense to spend money freely on unnecessary stuff if you’re receiving Vanderbilt financial aid, does it?

Vanderbilt Financial Aid Packages

Vanderbilt aidVanderbilt is unique in that students are admitted on a need-blind basis, and furthermore because the Vanderbilt Financial Aid program both covers 100% of all demonstrated need and does not include need-based loans. This remarkable characteristic means that most students do not have a debt burden after graduation. Nearly $40 million in financial aid is awarded to 62% of undergraduate students each year, with an average financial aid package of $43,163.
