CU's academic reputation is enhanced by a strong Financial Aid program, which receives support from both state and federal governments.

Applying for Colorado Financial Aid

Colorado financial aid is a defining part of the university, as the University of Colorado is committed to meeting the financial needs of all students and attracting a socioeconomically diverse student body. CU's commitment to financial aid helps ensure that students who attend the University of Colorado come from a variety of backgrounds. CU is resourceful enough to offer Financial Aid to the vast majority of students who attend its various branches, in state and out-of-state students alike. In-state students are likely to receive less financial aid than out-of-state students, as the cost to attend a CU school for in-state students is half the cost of attendance for an out-of-state student. International students rarely qualify for financial aid, unfortunately, and must rely on their own resources for funding. CU is able to offer a variety of merit and athletic-based awards, and students who are good enough to play on varsity teams are often able to earn full scholarships to support their studies.

Colorado Financial Aid Packages

Colorado Financial Aid Packages will include several forms of aid, namely scholarships, grants, work-study programs, and federal loans. The CU Promise program is a notable initiative for low-income, in-state students that provides a combination of grants, scholarships, and a work-study program to cover the remainder of tuition after in-state students receive funds from the College Opportunity Fund, or COF, which in-state students can apply for through their CU school's website. Colorado financial aid packages for all other students are similar to those of any other school: scholarships, as well as federal, state, and institutional grants are awarded on the basis of financial need, while work-study programs are encouraged and federal loans are included as a final form of aid in a Colorado Financial Aid package.
