Welcome!

The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry encourages students to use this student loan on-line resource tool to review the Stafford, GradPLUS, Private and Consolidation Student Loan Programs offered by participating lenders. After reviewing the comparison results for the lenders that you have selected, the Financial Aid Office also suggests that you contact the lender(s) to confirm the accuracy and to discuss the loan(s) in further detail.

If you have questions, call the College of Dentistry Financial Aid Office at 859-323-5280.

Financial Aid Coordinator

Borrowers can choose any Stafford/GradPLUS lender that participates in the Federal Family Education Loan program and any lender for a private loan, even if they are not listed here. The Financial Aid Office encourages borrowers to compare lenders to make an informed choice.

Lender List Rationale

The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry reviews lender’s policies and student loan products annually to find the best rates and customer service among student loan lenders for our students. To assist families in this decision, the College of Dentistry request that lenders who seek to provide student loans to our students complete and submit a Request for Information (RFI).

The lender’s responses to the RFI are reviewed using the following criteria as recommended by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

  1. Continuity, i.e. number of years of lender service
  2. Customer Service, i.e. ease of reaching a lender representative, hours of operation, timeliness in resolving processing problems, etc.
  3. Repayment Benefits and the reality of the borrower receiving them, i.e. interest rate reduction for auto-debit payments, interest rate reduction for number of consecutive payments, etc.
  4. Ease of application process to the student, as well as, the school for certification and disbursement process and technical support for resolving problems, etc.

Our policy is to not recommend one lender over another. We advise our student that they may use any lender they choose and that the list is not a comprehensive list. As a Financial Aid Office, our goal is to provide students with thorough consumer information so they can make sound financial decisions concerning their student loans due to the substantial level of debt that they acquire during their dental education. Students are encouraged to do their research on Lenders by reviewing their websites and the use of online calculators to determine the Lender that they feel will provide the best, both realistic and achievable, repayment benefits.
