The University of New England (UNE) is a co-educational institute located in Maine. This independent university has two campuses in the state: one in Biddeford and one in Portland. The university is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. UNE has been considered a top notch institute of comprehensive higher education since its inception in 1939.

UNE Financial Aid

The University of New England financial aid department requires each student to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and submit it online at fafsa.ed.gov. Supporting documents such as bank statements are also required with the form.
Through the FAFSA, students at UNE can apply for a variety of institutional and federal aid, including the Federal Direct (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) Loans, Federal Direct PLUS Loan (for Parents) and other loan programs such as Educators for Maine. Students who want to receive financial aid at UNE must at least be enrolled on a half-time basis, be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Also, students cannot have defaulted on loans, and they must not be obligated to repay a federal education loan. All students must sign a declaration stating that their financial aid will be used for educational purposes only.
